Yemen
- UMR runs five health centers and clinics, providing vital healthcare services to over 50,000 people in Lahj, Taiz, Al-Hodeidah, and Aden. We offer free medicines, train medical staff and volunteers, and carefully manage the supply of medical resources. To fight malnutrition, UMR uses a community-based approach, where volunteers screen children and enroll them in our treatment program. This program provides the necessary care and regular follow-ups to prevent malnutrition from becoming severe.
- UMR works closely with the Ministry of Health, UNICEF, and WHO to strengthen the healthcare system. We also distribute fortified rice to pregnant and breastfeeding women, making sure that those most at risk get the nutrition they need.
Kenya
In partnership with the Wajir County Health Office and UNICEF Kenya, UMR operates semi-mobile sites to support 5,000 people facing food insecurity. Although the program doesn’t include medical services, it provides regular food supplies, which greatly improves the well-being of vulnerable communities and helps them build resilience in the region.
Sudan
UMR in Sudan provides comprehensive community management of malnutrition through a robust network of 250 trained volunteers who actively screen and identify malnourished individuals, particularly targeting vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, orphans, lactating women, and newly displaced families. Through this initiative, UMR has distributed 1.7 million meals of fortified food, ensuring that those at the highest risk of malnutrition receive the nutrition they need to avoid life-threatening complications.
In addition to addressing malnutrition, UMR plays a key role in supporting health facilities by supplying essential medicines. These efforts reach more than 50,000 individuals across Sudan. UMR’s work in Sudan is strengthened through close coordination with the Sudanese Red Crescent, KAAF, Bahrain Red Crescent, WHO, and UNICEF, ensuring that healthcare services are delivered efficiently and in line with international standards.
By combining food security and healthcare interventions, UMR’s work in Sudan directly contributes to improving the health and well-being of some of the country’s most vulnerable populations.
